what if i get a tattoo?

Well, of course there are things you need to carefully consider. Tattooing is a painful process, and tattoos are expensive to remove. So, if you will have to decide to have a tattoo, think twice or thrice or many times. ‘Coz if you remove it, there will always be a scar. And you may not want it.

Unlike trends, which come and go, tattoo lasts forever. Go ask Johnny Depp or Angelina Jolie. They may have something to say..emoticon

To start with, you first need to go to a qualified professional ‘coz home made tattoos may not be as satisfying or safe as what you may have thought.

When choosing a tattoo artist you should make sure of the following: that the tattoo parlor uses new sterile equipment for each client, or thoroughly cleans and sterilizes equipment, follows standard precautions to reduce risks of infections, the tattoo artist must have credentials, license and references, and tattoo parlor needs to be clean, safe and professional.

And if you get a new tattoo it generally requires some careful attention. It is an open wound until it heals so you have to make sure you follow the advice of the tattoo artist about how to best care for the area.

You or the artist will usually apply an ointment or product especially made for tattoos, and then cover it. After an hour or two the tattoo should be washed with warm soapy water, and patted dry with a clean towel. You must not rub over the tattoo. Lightly apply the ointment again and cover the tattoo. These processes must be repeated daily for about a week. You should not soak your tattoo. So, this means no pool, seawater or baths. Do not also expose your tattoo to direct sunlight for this period either. During its healing process, you need to put sunscreen on it each time it is being exposed ‘coz the sun will likely to drain the color over time, and the tattooed area could be more susceptible to harmful rays. During the time, you may experience your tattoo to leak some fluids, and may become itchy, but it will actually peel. This is normal, but make sure that you don’t scratch the tattoo or pick at the scabs ‘coz this will cause damage to the tattoo.

And lastly, if the skin around the tattooed area becomes very red, swollen or tender, this can mean that the area is infected. So? You need to go to a doctor, as you might need antibiotic treatment before it can cause you any skin damage or pain.

Still want to get a tattoo? Now, you decide… gud luck. emoticon
