In Western culture tattoos are something associated with people on the edge of society. And has been part of the culture.

It may also symbolize recognition.

More people these days seem to have tattoos, though it still carries some risks. In the early 90’s it became more socially acceptable. It also became popular to criminals and restrained negative image.

Some reasons why people tend to get tattoo are: for cultural reasons like coming of age or rites of passage, to express individuality, indicate membership in a particular group, make a statement, establish permanent reminder of an event or loved ones, make body pleasing to their eye, or simply just to annoy parents…

Getting tattoo still puts you at risks on serious infectious disease like hepatitis C or B, HIV or tetanus, skin infections like impetigo, dermatitis, eczema, allergic reactions, keloids, or distress after getting a tattoo.
